Straight answers for every drainage question you have

Because we are based in Headless Cross, Redditch, our engineers can usually reach properties in Redditch or wider Worcestershire within one hour of your call. Straightforward blockages are normally removed in under sixty minutes using high-pressure water jetting or mechanical rodding. If the obstruction proves stubborn, we will carry out an on-the-spot CCTV inspection to pinpoint the cause and agree the next step. Either way, most customers have free-flowing pipes again the same day.

Yes. Our phone line is monitored around the clock, and we have engineers on standby for urgent situations such as sewage backups or flooding. When you request an emergency call-out, we prioritise your job immediately and aim to arrive as fast as traffic allows, day or night, weekends and bank holidays included. Up-front rates are discussed on the phone so you know the likely cost before we set off, giving you complete peace of mind.

Common warning signs include slow water draining from sinks, gurgling noises in pipework, unpleasant odours coming from plug holes, raised toilet water levels and external inspection chambers filling with waste. You may also notice water pooling around gullies or damp patches on lawns above the pipe run. If several fixtures are affected at once, the problem is likely in the main line rather than an individual trap. Contact Drain-A-Matic promptly before minor blockages develop into expensive structural damage.

A CCTV survey is advisable whenever you experience persistent blockages, are purchasing a new property, plan building work over existing drains, or simply want reassurance on the system’s condition. Using high-definition cameras, we record the pipe’s interior, identify defects such as cracks, root ingress and collapsed sections, and supply a detailed, shareable digital report. This evidence helps homeowners negotiate property purchases, comply with home insurance requirements and make informed maintenance decisions, potentially saving considerable money in future repairs.

Where conditions allow, we use no-dig technology such as patch liners and full-length resin sleeves to restore damaged pipes from within. After cleaning the drain, a flexible liner impregnated with resin is positioned over the fault and cured in place, creating a seamless, watertight pipe. This method avoids disruptive excavation, preserves driveways and landscaping, and is generally quicker and less expensive than traditional replacement. We will always assess suitability on site and explain all repair options clearly.

Yes. Many commercial clients, managing agents and landlords rely on our scheduled maintenance programmes to prevent disruption and costly emergencies. We tailor each contract to the site: frequency can range from monthly grease-trap clearance to annual system health checks. Regular jetting, root cutting and camera inspections keep pipework in optimum condition, document compliance for insurers and minimise unplanned downtime. Contract customers also benefit from priority call-outs and fixed, transparent pricing for any additional work identified.

Not at all. Our equipment is compact and self-contained, so we rarely need to enter your property unless the access point is indoors. The camera is fed through existing inspection chambers or removable traps, meaning there is minimal noise or mess. Surveys on a standard domestic system typically take less than an hour, after which we will talk you through the footage straight away. You can carry on with daily activities while we work outside.

Absolutely. Every Drain-A-Matic engineer is trained in high-pressure water jetting, confined-space entry and safe use of CCTV equipment. We hold comprehensive public liability and employer’s liability insurance, so you are protected throughout the job. Risk assessments and method statements are completed before work begins, and our team follows the latest industry best practice and health-and-safety guidelines. Certificates and insurance documents are available on request, giving you confidence that your drainage system is in responsible, expert hands.

Our core service area includes the whole of Worcestershire, but we also travel into neighbouring parts of Warwickshire, Birmingham and the West Midlands when required. Because we dispatch engineers from Redditch, arrival times remain competitive across this wider region. If you are unsure whether your postcode is covered, just give us a call; we will confirm availability immediately or recommend a trusted partner if we believe someone else can reach you faster in an emergency.

Costs vary depending on factors such as access, pipe diameter and the severity of the obstruction, so we prefer to quote once we understand your specific circumstances. However, for straightforward domestic blockages resolved during the first hour on site, most customers pay a fixed call-out and labour rate that we confirm before attending. There are no hidden charges for equipment use, parking or disposal. Full written estimates are provided for any additional work discovered during the visit.
